Ethnic Cleansing and Prophet Muhammad
HRAIC is opposed to ethnic cleansing wherever it occurs. It, of course,
has a long history but is not unknown to Islam.
Prophet Muhammad said (Hadith Sahih Muslim 4363)
"You (the Jews) should know that the earth belongs to Allah and His
Apostle and I wish to expel you from this land. (Arabia)
and again;
(Hadith Muslim 4366) "I will expel the Jews and the Christians from
the Arabian Peninsula and will not leave any but Muslims."
In 624 CE the Prophet told the Jews of the Banu Nadir tribe in Medina,
"Leave your land and take all that you can carry, except your arms and
your armour."
"And had it not been that Allah had decreed Banishment for them, He
certainly would have Punished them in this world; in the Hereafter they shall
have the Punishment of the Fire" (Qur'an 59:3)
In 625 CE Muhammad had all 600-700 adult males (those that had pubic
hair) of the Jewish tribe Banu Qurayzah decapitated in the public square of
Medina. The women and children were ransomed or kept as slaves." And He
made you heirs of their lands, their houses and their goods, and of a land
which ye had not frequented before, and Allah has power over all things."
(Qur'an 33:27)
In 628 CE, Muhammad dispossessed the Jews of Khaybar, north of Medina
but, on this occasion, he allowed some of them to remain behind as serfs
working the farms and giving him half the produce. On the same terms, the
Prophet became landlord of the Jewish settlements of Fadah and Wadi l-Qura.
Jews surplus to Muhammad's needs were expelled to Syria.
